Sacred Investing

Many people think their giving is sacred and their investing is secular — but Scripture never separates the two. When we steward God’s resources, He cares about both our investments and the posture of our hearts as we invest.

Charitable giving is powerful, but limited: Americans give about $500 billion annually, while the U.S. has over $150 trillion in investable assets. Imagine the impact if even a fraction of Christian investable assets were invested into companies advancing human flourishing.
We can do that — and it matters.

There are investable, for-profit, missiondriven businesses tackling real needs: hunger, joblessness, trafficking, discipleship, and more. When these companies treat
employees, customers, and communities with excellence and offer products that improve lives, we believe that is a recipe for success! Why wouldn’t that business flourish and generate good profits and returns when operated wisely?

Avoid / Embrace / Engage

Would you ever knowingly invest in a company that violates your core values? Of course not! As faithful stewards, there are businesses we naturally want to AVOID. You do not want to empower – or worse, profit from – corporate exploitation or practices that harm people. We simply don’t want God’s resources aligned with that.

But investing is also an exciting opportunity to EMBRACE companies doing real good: businesses that treat people well, strengthen communities, and contribute to human flourishing. Supporting enterprises like these allows us direct capital and enable these companies to do what they do AND participate in their profits from a job well done.

And with any company we do own, we can also ENGAGE. Some businesses are generally good but still need guidance. By investing through likeminded managers who thoughtfully vote all our proxies in alignment with Christian values, our shareholder voice is amplified, helping encourage integrity and accountability within corporate America.

Hundredfold Giving

Imagine your fiveyearold come to you with a tear in their eyes, gives you $100, and asks you for help giving it in a way that “help as many people go to heaven as possible.”
Touched and inspired, you would want to honor their beautiful request and make the very best use of that money as possible, right? But would you know how to do that?

Giving can benefit from the same kind of professional due diligence that revolutionized investing. Instead of going it alone, believers can leverage experts who evaluate ministries, measure impact, and help generosity stretch further — a kind of “hundredfold giving.”

Leaving an everlasting inheritance

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children” — Proverbs 13:22.

But what is the best inheritance you can leave? Money alone isn’t the answer – and in many situations, money given poorly can be counterproductive to what really matters!

Spiritual capital, character, and wisdom – how do we give and instill this? And how does our money advance and not hinder the best inheritance you can give?

Financial capital can be a blessing or a burden. It requires prayer and discernment to
determine:

  • How much is enough for me?

  • How much is enough for my kids?

  • And what might God be calling me to do with the rest?

Storing up treasures in heaven

As you pray and wrestle over these questions regarding what God is calling you to do, He may be inviting you to:

  • Receive the joy of outrageous generosity while here on earth so you can see the impact of your generosity.

  • Redeem the wealth of all you retain by investing it purposefully and intentionally for the greatest good.

  • Bless your family and leave the type of legacy that will never rust and cannot be stolen through a prayerfully and well-designed estate plan.

But as you discern and steward the way God has called you, you will be storing up treasures in heaven!
